TRI ETHYLENE GLYCOL (TEG) is a chemical product and Arena Petro Gas is in position to supply and export it directly from MAROON PETROCHEMICAL - MORVARID PETROCHEMICAL - SHAZAND PETROCHEMICAL - FARSA CHIMIE COMPANY through its trading services according to the following specification and technical properties.
Tri Ethylene glycol (TEG) is a colorless, odorless, viscous liquid with the molecular formula HOCH2CH2OCH2CH2OCH2CH2OH. It is a dihydroxy alcohol that belongs to a homologous series of ethylene glycols, also it has a high boiling point of 285 °C and a low freezing point of -7 °C, and it is completely miscible with water and many organic solvents.
TEG has various uses in different industries, such as:
- As a plasticizer for vinyl polymers, enhancing their flexibility and durability.
- As an air sanitizer, disinfecting the air when aerosolized in products such as "Oust" or "Clean and Pure".
- As a liquid desiccant, dehydrating natural gas and other gases by absorbing water vapor from them. This prevents pipeline corrosion, freezing, and hydrate formation.
- As a heat transfer fluid, providing thermal stability and low viscosity in cooling systems.
- As a chemical intermediate, synthesizing other products such as polyester resins and cement grinding aids.
TEG is produced commercially by the oxidation of ethylene at high temperature in the presence of silver oxide catalyst, followed by hydration of ethylene oxide to yield mono-, di-, tri-, and tetra Ethylene glycols.
The technical specifications of TEG from these suppliers may vary slightly depending on the production process and quality control measures. However, some common parameters are:
- Density: 1.12 - 1.13 g/mL at 20 °C - Viscosity: 47 - 49 cP at 20 °C - Flash point: 165 - 175 °C - Refractive index: 1.45 - 1.46 at 20 °C - Water content: <0.1%
